William "Bill" Wintucky

WILLIAM "Bill" T. WINTUCKY, age 96 passed away peacefully in his sleep of natural causes on April 3, 2026. Beloved husband of Mary Wintucky (nee Acocella) for 60 years. Oldest brother of Edwin G. Jr., Patricia Rydquist (John), and the late Carol Kraus (Bill), Dorothy Badovick (Paul), and Richard (Loretta). Son of the late Edwin and Dorothy (nee Palmer). Dear uncle of eighteen.

Bill attended East Technical High School majoring in aeronautics. He earned his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from Fenn College in 1953. After graduating, he went on to work for NACA which became NASA in 1968. In 1954, Bill was drafted by the Army after the Korean War and sent to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. In 1960, a tragic car accident resulted in his first wife, Lula Bell Rust's death and Bill being permanently paralyzed. Bill returned to work at NASA and retired in 1994. In 1966, Bill married Mary Acocella and they spent the next 60 years of adventure, love and caring together. During the time he worked for NASA, Bill also served on the City of Brecksville's Planning Commission for 25 years. After retiring from NASA, Bill was hired by the City of Brecksville as the City Planner. In 1987, Bill received commendation from the Department of the Army for conducting a unique project on a compound cycle engine for helicopters. In 1988, The American Legion named Bill one of 12 outstanding handicapped Federal Employees for his dedication and outstanding achievements. 

Family and Friends will be received at NOSEK-McCREERY FUNERAL HOME, 8150 BRECKSVILLE RD., BRECKSVLLE, OH 44141 on Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 1-3 p.m. with sharing of memories in celebration of Bill's life beginning at 3 p.m.
