William "Bill" Ellenberger, age 85, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024. Devoted husband of Susan "Sue" (nee Long); loving father of Karen Maxwell (David) and Allison Ellenberger; Gramps to Evelyn and Henry Maxwell. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest L. and Elsie E. Ellenberger; step-mother Janette Ellenberger; brother, Robert Ellenberger (Louise, surviving), and former spouse Arlene (nee Huerster).
Throughout his life Bill gave of his time and talents to help others. He was generous and kind-always willing to help plant a garden, build a house, and patiently assist anyone in need. Bill was a craftsman and loved working with his hands, including building pipe organs. He loved nature and spending time outdoors-biking, hiking, and gardening. Bill was a lifelong musician-playing piano and organ in various churches in northeast Ohio for 70 years, and accompanying and collaborating with countless musicians.
Bill was a friend to all he met. He will be deeply missed.
Friends will be received at Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home, 8150 Brecksville Rd., Brecksville, OH 44141 on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 3-7 pm. Bill's memorial service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2141 5th St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 11:00 am.
