Stephen J. Schultz, 74, formerly of Brecksville and Valley View, died on March 25, 2025, in Charlotte, NC. He was the cherished husband of Kathryn for 44 years; dearest father of Adriano (Teresa) of Sparks, NV, and Leandro (Lauren) of Charlotte, and loving grandpa to Elliot and Owen in Charlotte.
Steve was born in Frewsburg, NY, the son of the late Earl and Jane Peterson Schultz. He is survived by his brothers Mark (Susan) of Medway, MA, and David of Montpelier, VA. He was a graduate of Frewsburg High School, SUNY Fredonia, the University of Wisconsin, and Cleveland State University. He practiced intellectual property law in Cleveland for many years, most recently with the firm of Tarolli, Sundheim, Covell and Tummino.
Steve was an avid reader, especially of history and current events, and remembered and could discuss everything he read. He had a sharp and unpredictable wit that kept everyone on their toes and would make any room he was in come alive.
He loved baseball, was a member of the Frewsburg High School team and later of several softball teams. He held many a Sunday afternoon practice with his sons when they were growing up and was a fan along with his family of the Cleveland Indians. He enjoyed bicycling, and he and Kathy had some of their best and most memorable vacations by bike. But he was happiest on the golf course, where he spent splendid days with his good golfing buddies, often walking the 18 holes.
Visiting hours will be held at the NOSEK-McCREERY FUNERAL HOME, 8150 BRECKSVILLE RD., BRECKSVILLE, OH 44141 on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery in Jamestown, NY.
