Shirley Ann Shiveley, (nee Davidson) age 88 passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022. Beloved wife of James Thomas Shiveley for 67 years; Loving mother of Karen Dineen Deluga (Michael) of Shorewood, IL and the late Darrell Alan Shiveley; Dearest grandmother of Rebecca Michelle Deluga (Indianapolis, IN) and Rachel Kaitlyn Deluga (Davenport, FL).
Shirley grew up in Lynchburg, OH. After high school graduation she moved out on her own and was employed by NCR in Dayton, OH where she met her future husband, Thomas Shiveley, in what she affectionately calls the "tunnel of love" (the labyrinth of tunnels connecting buildings at NCR). It was at this time also that she accepted Jesus Christ as her savior. Thomas and Shirley were married in 1954 and were active members of Christian Tabernacle (Dayton, OH).
Due to a job transfer, they and their two young children (Karen and Darrell) moved to Cleveland, OH in 1964. Later, Thomas founded his manufacturing company (Innovative Industries) where Shirley was the office manager and bookkeeper (until her death). At that time they were active members of the Cathedral of Tomorrow (Cuyahoga Falls, OH). Presently, they attend Cleveland Baptist Church.
Shirley was a gifted oil painting artist and a talented organist/pianist. She enjoyed walking through the woods with her family and cherished God's beautiful creations. She always desired to have a picnic in the Cleveland Metro Parks, even if the weather was not ideal.
As Shirley grew older, her vision diminished because of macular degeneration. However, she had super peripheral vision and was the best GPS system when she rode in an automobile! She could inform the driver when to make a turn by the scenery she saw in her peripheral vision. It always amazed her family how accurate she could be, considering her limited sight!
Shirley was exceptionally proud of her two children and two grand daughters and their awesome accomplishments. Unfortunately, her son, Darrell, passed away in 2019 at the age of 60. Her daughter, Karen, is married to Michael Deluga and they have two beautiful adult daughters, Rebecca and Rachel, who loved and appreciated their grandmother.
Friends will be received at Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home, 8150 Brecksville Road, Brecksville, Ohio 44141 on Monday, March 21, 2022 from 1:00-2:00 pm where Shirley's funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm. Burial to follow at Brecksville Cemetery.
