SHIRLEY JACQUELINE HILL, age 94 of Brecksville, Ohio, passed away on August 21, 2021. She was born to Martin Blair McCallum and Ada Johnson McCallum on November 19, 1926, in Truro, Nova Scotia. She grew up in Truro and earned her bachelors degree from Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, then a Teaching Certificate from the Normal College in Truro, N.S. She taught school in Bass River, N.S. and Bible Hill, N.S. On October 5th, 1949, Shirley married George Edward "Ted" Hill of Onslow and Five Islands N.S. They moved to Cleveland in 1952 and started a family shortly thereafter. In addition to being the homemaker, Shirley had a great interest in playing bridge, collecting and re-finishing antiques, knitting and crocheting, and was an excellent cook and baker. She was a person who never forgot her roots, often displaying a Canadian flag on her clothing. She also hung on to the lessons she learned during the Great Depression: be frugal and apply your wits to achieve your objectives and dreams, reserving your resources for 'a rainy day' to come.
Shirley is survived by sons Brian D., Eric M. (Darlene), grandsons Bryan L. (Katie), Tyler M., and was 'great 'nanny' to Sophie. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, son Charles E. and brothers Chester, Lloyd, Ralph, Leo and Elroy. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
