ROBERT RAY "Bob" BUTLER, age 71, longtime former resident of Brecksville died December 21, 2022 after a brief illness. Beloved son of the late Donald and Patricia Butler; loving brother of Dr. William Butler (Linda) and David Butler (Nancy); dear uncle of Jack (Chelsea Turner) and Grace; cousin of Craig Comstock, Gayle Comstock, Chris Kuhr and Rev. Robert Walton. In high school, Bob secretly borrowed his mother's '65 Ford Mustang and raced at various local drag strips, winning many trophies. Bob received a B.A. in Business from Baldwin Wallace College and managed the food service at several Ohio colleges and the Federal Courthouse in Cleveland. While at Notre Dame College in Cleveland, he and his staff were honored to serve food to Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta at a special event. Bob was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) at the age of 29. Within ten years, his MS had progressed so that he stopped working and moved back home with his parents. They resided in Brecksville and wintered in Port Charlotte, FL. Bob volunteered his time freely as a greeter at the Cleveland Clinic, as an usher at Playhouse Square, in the church men's group, and as a mentor to others with MS. After his father's death, Bob and his mother Pat moved to assisted living in Connecticut to be near his brother Bill. Bob always kept a positive attitude and felt that every day was "Great!" His humility and grace in the face of significant challenge makes Bob Butler a role model for all of us. Family will receive friends at NOSEK-McCREERY FUNERAL HOME, 8150 BRECKSVILLE RD, BRECKSVILLE, OH 44141 on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 3-6 p.m. A Memorial Service for Bob will be held at the Brecksville United Methodist Church, 65 Public Square, Brecksville, OH 44141 on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the National MS Society.
