Matthew Robert Clyde Witt, age 35 of Brecksville, OH passed away suddenly Saturday, June 28, 2025. Beloved son of C. David and Roberta Witt; loving brother of Daniel Witt; long-time partner of Julieanne Evans and their fur babies, Sriracha and Bean; dear nephew and cousin; Preceded in death by his grandparents, Clyde and Rosemarie Witt and Robert and Irene Harper.
Matthew was a 2008 graduate of Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School and a 2012 graduate of Miami University of Ohio. He was a national ice dance competitor under the auspices of U.S. Figure Skating, and a national collegiate gold medalist for Miami, where he was also Male Athlete of the Year in 2012. His semester abroad was spent in Hyderabad, India.
Matt was a wonderful dancer both on and off the ice, but he also had a passion for travel and cruising. In addition to India, he previously visited England, France, Italy, Austria, Thailand, Canada, the Bahamas, Hawaii, and Disney World, along with many other places. At home, he loved cooking - especially Asian cuisine - playing Dungeons & Dragons, fishing, and hosting dinner parties with his close friends. He was a supporter of wildlife and the natural environment in general.
Most importantly, Matt loved people. He cherished not only his family and friends, but more fundamentally, had a true caring for all people of the world. He always wanted to make people feel valued and give them a smile, even as a small child. To this end, he had a wonderful personality and sense of humor that enabled him to do so. He was an advocate for justice, equity, and happiness for all.
Friends will be received at Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home, 8150 Brecksville Rd., Brecksville, OH 44141 on Friday, July 25, 2025 from 3-6 pm with a time of remembrance to follow at 6:00 pm.
