Mary Elizabeth (Davis) Montgomery

Mary Elizabeth Montgomery, age 96, of Brecksville, Oh; departed this life on December 18th, 2020. Born November 25th, 1924 in Cox’s Mills, WV; Mary was the daughter of the late Okey Davis and Vera Bennett Davis. Mary is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, George Rhinehart Montgomery Jr. She is survived by her son, Ronald Duane Montgomery (Barbara) of Chagrin Falls, OH.Mary came from a large family of 13 children. Surviving are 2 brothers, Bobby W. Davis (Janet) of Elyria, OH; Harry “Buck” Davis (Joanne) of Highland Heights, OH; and 2 sisters: Bonnie Lee Taylor of Middleburg Heights, OH and Alice R. Shalala of Parma Heights, OH.Along with her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Okey Lee Jr., John W., Herbert E. “Gene”, and Denzil Davis, and 4 sisters, Irene Cowles, Lillie Mae Davis, Mavis M. Risley, and Maxine Davis.
Mary was a graduate of Kent State University and proudly served as an elementary school teacher for 30+ years in both the Garfield and Warrensville Hts. school systems. She enjoyed spending her summers traveling with George, lovingly tending her flowers, and taking care of her yard.  She enjoyed socializing and spent many years participating in programs at the Independence Senior Center. Line dancing was one of her favorite activities. Mary will be interred at Broad Run Cemetery in Jane Lew, WV at a later date with a private graveside service. As per her request there will be no calling hours or service in Ohio.
