Martha "Marta" Hasman Obituary

Martha "Marta" A. Hasman

Born in Trencin, Czechoslovakia and passed away peacefully on March 14, 2023.  She was the loving wife of the late Raymond J. Hasman and loving mother to Bonnie (Jack) Millie, Bob (Jan) Hasman and Glenn (Trina) Hasman.  Grandmother to Dr. Michael (Anna) Hasman, Bobby Hasman, Vanessa (Chuck) Williams and Christopher Rogers.  Great Grandmother to Michael, Maria, Matthew, Monica and Abigail.  Dear Aunt to Diane Tozzi, Dr. Mark Tozzi, Donna Malott and Tom Hasman.  A friend to many.  Preceded in death by her parents Mary & Joseph Klimo, sisters Margie and Annie, and brother Laddie.

The last survivor of her family of six who emigrated to this country from Czechoslovakia in the fall of 1938, she worked on and off as a fashion model for several Cleveland retailers in the years that followed.  Later, she became active in civic and charitable organizations including fund-raising for the United Way.  As a mother and homemaker, she took great pride in raising her children and caring for our home.  She enjoyed cooking / baking, entertaining, sewing, exercising, playing volleyball and golf, gardening, social events, and dancing and traveling with our Dad and their many friends.

During the1960's she formed a women's fitness program in our hometown of Independence, Ohio. It was there she developed (and pioneered!) exercise routines set to music in order to teach, lead and motivate local women in calisthenics, yoga and aerobic dance twice each week.  Following each session, they played volleyball, eventually leading to inter-city competitions. She loved this fulfilling part of her life.

In the 1970's, she earned her real estate license and successfully sold local homes and commercial properties in and around the Brecksville area for more than 25 years. As much as the work itself, she loved getting ready for her work days, dressing in smart, stylish outfits. We were all very proud of her.

After retiring, she enjoyed reading, solving word puzzles, nature, watching golf and home shopping on TV and reminiscing with her beloved children.  Other than family, she loved her music, especially songs sung by Dean Martin. She always said she "could not live without my music."

The family will receive friends at the Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home, 8150 Brecksville Rd, Brecksville, OH at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023.  Funeral services at 10:30 a.m. followed by a private interment for family and close friends at the Brecksville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mom and Dad's memory to the Raymond J. Hasman Endowed Scholarship Fund, Cleveland State University Foundation, 2121 Euclid Avenue, BU401, Cleveland, Ohio 44115.
