Kenneth Jakub Obituary

On Monday, September 28, 2026 KENNETH ROBERT JAKUB of Parma, passed away peacefully at the age of 80.  Ken was born in July 1946 to George Jakub and Frances Jakub (nee Castrovince) who preceded him in death.  Ken grew up in Cleveland surrounded by family.  He fondly told stories of growing up in the “old neighborhood” where he fell in love with the game of baseball and his grandmother’s cooking, which led to his true lifelong passion - eating.

Ken graduated from Warrensville Heights High School in 1965.  He loved to share his many stories of his trouble making ways and the many teachers who guided him through it. It was also a time when Ken got his first job at the Myles drive-in, a job he spoke about up until his passing.

Ken was drafted into the United States Army during Vietnam, where he honorably served as a payroll clerk stationed in  Washington DC.  He referred to this experience as his college years.  In typical Ken fashion, when trying to get him to re-enlist into the service, he boldly proclaimed to his superior officer that the military could not offer him what he needed.  When questioned as to what the United States Army could not provide,  Ken responded with his plans to attend beautician school and was promptly honorably discharged. While Ken thought he had a career lined up as a hairdresser he famously became known to his family, as a beauty school dropout.

It was after that setback that he met the love of his life, Karen Jakub (nee Piotrokwski) who he remained married to for 52 years until his death.  He shared a very special bond with Karen, who has  always taken the greatest care of him and provided him many cups of coffee.  While many knew of Karen’s great love for Ken, what they may not have known was that he told her daily how much he loved her and the many gestures he made to his beloved wife that she will miss beyond words.

Ken is also survived by his two sons Kevin (Julie) and Kurt (Charmayne) and his two grandchildren Madeline and Kyle who affectionately referred to him as “Grumpy Grandpa.”

Ken had many passions and interests from cooking, horse racing, APBA Baseball, reading, model trains, chess. stamp collecting, and his favorite pastime of teasing those he cared about.  His unique sense of humor was only matched by his great sensitivity and empathy that only those closest to him truly understood.
