Julia Ann Rowan (Park), 91, passed away on September 4, 2023 at Mt. Alverna Village in Parma, Ohio. She was a graduate of Trinity College in Washington, DC and received a Masters of Nursing from Yale University. Julia worked in pediatric nursing, specializing in the care of premature babies, starting her career at University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. She taught at Frances Payne Bolton school of Nursing, Western Reserve University in Cleveland, and Youngstown State University. Her community service included founding the La Leche League in Corning NY, volunteering as an election worker in Columbus, Ohio, and volunteering for her children's local PTAs. Julia was devoted to her family and her faith. She was a member of St. Cecilia Parish in Galloway, Ohio and a recent member of St. Basil the Great Parish in Brecksville, Ohio.
Julia was predeceased by her dedicated and loving husband of 57 years, Richard J. Rowan, Sr., her sister, Francie Hampton, and her brothers Felix Park and George Park. She is survived by her four cherished children: Carol Rowan Frank (Abe) of Washington, DC; Kathleen Hockaday (Joseph) of Frisco, Texas; Richard Rowan, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Broadview Heights, Ohio; and Robert Rowan (Robin) of Raleigh, North Carolina. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Connor Hockaday (Ashlyn); James Hockaday (Jacelyn); Carrie Mayer (Steven); Emily Rowan; Reeves Rowan; Parker Rowan; and two Great Grandchildren, Finn and Sadie Hockaday. Her youngest brother, Dr. Paul Park (Kay), and numerous dear nephews and nieces also survive her. Julia always enjoyed visits with friends and family members and their many pets. She loved animals and enjoyed feeding the wandering cats in her Galloway, Ohio neighborhood.
Visitation will be held at Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home, 8150 Brecksville Road Brecksville, Ohio 44141 on Thursday September 7, 2023 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, 8700 Brecksville Road, Brecksville, Ohio 44141 on Friday September 8, 2023 at 10:00am (Please meet at church). Interment will be at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
