Joseph Cerny, Jr.

Joseph C. Cerny Jr., age 72 of Put-in-Bay, OH, born in Cleveland, OH, passed away on April 4, 2025 with his family by his side.

Loving husband of 49 years to Carol M. Cerny. Beloved father of Joseph E. Cerny (Marsha), Craig J. Cerny (Hillary), Jill C. Kirby (Logan), and Janine C. Little (Ryan). Cherished grandfather of Juliana, Ruby, Joseph (JJ), Charlie, Mara, Marshall, and Polly. Brother of Karen L. Robbins (Bob). Preceded in death by Joseph C. Cerny Sr. (father), Ruby M. Cerny (mother), and Jaclyn C. Cerny (daughter).

He began his engineering career by working for his father at Supreme Electric. From there he launched and established two successful companies of his own, Industrial Power and Controls, and Induction Heating Systems. He had a long and successful career as an Induction Heating Specialist.

He always said his riches were not his financial riches but his family. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His life became intertwined with the island when his dad established a home there in the 1950's. Joe further continued that legacy when he moved his family to Put-in-Bay in 1998. He developed deep bonds and friendships with his island community. Recently, he especially enjoyed his Saturday morning men's breakfast club, the "ROMEOs".

Family and Friends will be received at NOSEK-McCREERY FUNERAL HOME, 8150 BRECKSVILLE RD., BRECKSVILLE, OH 44141 on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 12-3 p.m. followed by a service at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church or Lake Erie Islands Conservancy.
