JOHN "Jack" A. PETSCHE, JR., age 91, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2023. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy. Loving father of Jack III (Rose), Peter, Patricia, William, Kristine, and Paul (Natalie). Devoted grandfather of Jamie, Jack IV, Antoinette, Peter, Michael, Tiffany, Christopher, Carolyn, Michael, and James. Cherished great grandfather of Avery, Jack V, Willow, Levi, and Lindsey. Dear brother of Carol, Fred, and Margaret, and the late Catherine Ann, Beatrice Ann, and Anne Marie.
Jack spent his career working as a Civil Engineer and Land Surveyor in North Royalton, Ohio and Florida, and he served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Jack had a myriad of interests and aptitudes beyond his ‘work’. He loved fast cars. He owned one. He drove/raced it, and performed all his own needed mechanics and desired enhancements. The boys in our family definitely inherited this interest. Well, the girls too. Jack was an excellent self taught photographer, having none of the modern technology we are accessible to today. He showed his own dogs, from Dachshunds to Great Danes. There were quite a few ribbons. Jack loved boating and sport fishing. He even started a tropical aquarium fish business from his home in the Florida Keys. He later had a keen interest in, and studied, paleoanthropology. So much so that it was thought he should pursue some sort of honorary degree. Above all, Jack was a wonderful father. Quite strict, with a very big and open heart. The girls claimed that their Pop was the most feared dad in their high school. A date with a boy involved a weak-kneed request for permission, a pre-interview, a detailed list of activities, places, and times, and more than one post-date ‘interaction’ with said date. Jack had, and provided, a wonderful life. He was a hero to his family.
Family and Friends will be received at NOSEK-McCREERY FUNERAL HOME, 8150 BRECKSVILLE RD., BRECKSVILLE, OH 44141 on Friday, February 10, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. Jack's Funeral Service will be held at the FUNERAL HOME, Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon, Ohio.
