Joan M. (Odvody) Petek

Joan M. Petek (nee Odvody) age 88 of Brecksville, OH, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 28, 2026 surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of Claude for 66 years; loving mother of her only son Claude V. (Summyr); dearest grandmother of Anwyn, Rolland, and Bryce; preceded in death by her parents Gilbert and Stefany Odvody.

Joan was a longtime treasurer and keeper of the books for Hubbell Machine Company and more recently Hubbell Machine Tooling, Inc. With a generous heart she poured her love into her family. Always active, always sharp, strong willed and elegant, embracing life with energy and grace. An active member of Lakeside Yacht Club in the 80's, always involved and for many years a leader in the Brecksville Garden Club. Her gardens were her solace and her love and knowledge of all things floral will be one of the ways she will be remembered. Joan loved to travel and test her luck at a few favorite gaming resorts. Always lucky. She may be gone from this world but her spirit and memories will remain with all those she touched. Your family will miss you dearly, but will think of you always. Joan is onto her next adventure.

Friends will be received at Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home, 8150 Brecksville Rd., Brecksville, OH 44141 on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 from 4-8 pm. Prayers at the funeral home on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 9:30 am followed by Joan's Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, 8700 Brecksville Rd., Brecksville, OH. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery.
