Jan C. Romano

Jan C. Romano (nee Porteus) passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at the age of 83.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph Romano.  Together they shared five children, Marie Romano, Michael Romano (Lorriane), Jeanine Hastings (Robert, deceased), Jan Romano, Joseph Romano II (Bonnie).  Jan also leaves behind ten cherished grandchildren, Vincent Cricco (Helen), Mary Kuykendall (Dakota), Ceili Romano, Joseph Romano, Gerald Hastings (Amanda), Daniella Carter (Cade), Antonio Olivas, Michael Romano, Maggie Romano, Sean Romano - and eight great grandchildren, Skye, Cade, Colton, Cole, Robert, Cruz, Leo and Bruce.  The oldest daughter of Joseph and Margaret (nee Thomas) Porteus, Jan was one of nine siblings, Judy O'Toole, Eileen Grabowski, Daniel Porteus (deceased), Kathy Castleman, Mark Porteus, Alfred Porteus, Mathew Porteus and Evelyn Jacobs. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who she held dear.

Jan's greatest joy was her family and she never hesitated to let them know it. No birthday or holiday was complete without a sequin, confetti, love filled card.   An avid reader, crossword puzzle enthusiast, Jan was the indisputable Scrabble Queen.  She was the family confidant and trusted advisor.  Her heart and talent for words God-led and compassionate.  She loved to walk in the MetroParks surrounded by God's beauty.  Jan was also a faithful parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at St. Basil the Great Catholic Church.  She was devoted to the Blessed Mother who held a special place in her heart.

Family and Friends will be received at Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home 8150 Brecksville Road, Brecksville OH 44141 on Friday October 25, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.  Jan's Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, 8700 Brecksville Road, Brecksville, OH 44141 on Saturday October 26, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.  (PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH).  Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
