JAMES STEPHEN CALLEN, age 65, was born December 13, 1957 in Cleveland, OH to Earl and Agnes (nee Zimmerman) Callen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Virginia Callen. He passed away suddenly on June 16, 2023.
He is survived by his wife Deborah, daughters Rebecca Callen (Adam Brandt), and Emily Callen (Theresa), 2 brothers-in-law, 3 sisters- in-law, 5 nephews, and 1 niece.
He was a graduate of both Holy Name High School and CVCC and held an Associate's Degree in Business from Cuyahoga Community College.
He was employed for 46 years at First Energy and its predecessors, starting as a truck mechanic at the age of 19. Jim rose through the ranks to positions of increasing responsibility in the area of fleet management.
His first priority was his family, but his other passions included running and muscle cars. He completed numerous full and half marathons and was an active member of his running group, NE Ohio FIT, and supported local races. In his early years he competed in racing at Norwalk Speedway.
Jim will be greatly missed by his family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors. He will be remembered for his calm demeanor, integrity, and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a charitable gift in Jim's name either to the Cleveland Area Food Bank 13815 Coit Road Cleveland, OH 44110, or Holy Name High School 6000 Queen's Highway Parma Hts., OH 44130.
The family will receive friends at Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home, 8150 Brecksville Road, Brecksville, OH 44141 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2023.
There will be a private burial at All Saints Cemetery Northfield OH at a later date.
