Jack Millie, age 73, was born on October 19, 1949 and passed away peacefully at home in the early afternoon hours of June 6, 2023. He was the loving husband of Bonnie (nee Hasman), dear brother of Mary Ellen Marcus (Rodger), dear brother-in-law of Bob Hasman (Jan), Glenn Hasman (Trina) and Rodger Marcus (Mary Ellen), uncle to Melissa, Cassandra, Michael, Bobby, Vanessa and Christopher, and grand uncle to nine. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John & Mary Millie, of Lakewood, Ohio.
Jack was a gifted and multi-talented artist, actor and musician. After graduating from Lakewood High School, he went on to attend the Cooper School of Art.
In his younger years, he played many leading roles in the Lakewood Little Theatre and later performed with the Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival. He played guitar, bass and sang with several bands during the late 1960's and, more recently, performed as a lead singer with the local Swing Era Big Band. Beginning in the early 70's, Jack was the illustrator for the nationally-syndicated comic strip "Amanda Panda" for many years. Later in life, he was well-known for his many imaginative caricatures, political cartoons, celebrity drawings and montages, children's book illustrations and formal portrait paintings of prominent public figures.
Jack was a kind, easygoing and creative soul. His laid-back, gentle personality, his smart, good-natured humor, upbeat attitude and broad range of knowledge and interests, particularly those having to do with 20th century arts and culture, always made him interesting to talk with and fun to be around. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A private memorial service for the family will be held in early July.
Condolences and/or other messages may be sent to the Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home at 8150 Brecksville Road, Brecksville, Ohio 44141, or to funeral@nosek-mccreery.com, for forwarding on to the family.
