George Chernesky

GEORGE CHERNESKY, age 99.  Beloved husband of the late JoLana (nee Dzmura).  Loving father of Kathleen Haystrick (Ken) and Christine Ronk (Brian).  Cherished grandfather of Peter Kormos, Elizabeth Noll (Chuck), Megan Murphy (Matt), Anya Ronk, Jessica Blazer (Zach) and the late Valentine Ronk.  Beloved great grandfather of Connor and Emma Noll and Eleanor Murphy.  Dear brother of the late Catherine Chernesky, Margaret Bohurjak, Barbara Supra, Julia Thachik, Joseph Chernesky, Helen Motyka, Anne Chernesky, Mary Thur, Dora Jarold, and Elizabeth Perkovich.  Loved by many nieces and nephews.

George was an avid fisherman and hunter, a gifted handyman, a wonderful, kind, and helpful neighbor and friend.  He was a proud World War II Combat Veteran serving at Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge and recipient of six bronze stars.  George loved his family and friends.

Family will receive friends at Archangel Michael Orthodox Church, 5025 E. Mill Rd., Broadview Heights, OH 44147 on Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 9-10 a.m. followed by George's Funeral Liturgy at 10 a.m. with the Very Rev. John Memorich officiating.  Interment will follow at St. Theodosius Cemetery.
