David Allen Stephanic

June 9, 1958 ~ January 15, 2022 (age 63)

Obituary

David Allen Stephanic, 63, of Brecksville, passed away unexpectedly on January 15, 2022 with his wife by his side. David was born on June 9, 1958 in Canton, a true Gemini if there ever was one.

He grew up surrounded by a large, extended family, playing with his cousins and friends, riding mini bikes, building rockets and working on cars with his dad. Growing up, his family spent many weekends on the Ohio River and Lake Cumberland water skiing, tubing and knee boarding. His love of boating continued for many years, hanging out with friends at Lake Seneca.

Dave’s early affinity for all things mechanical and technical never left him. After graduating from GlenOak High School in Canton in 1976 he went on to graduate with a degree in electronics from the National Institute of Technology. For the next forty years he worked as an electronic technician serving the aerospace industry (Goodyear, Loral and Lucas) and the United States Postal Service. After retirement he went on to become president of his condo association.

Dave and Jody met as teenagers and after living together for 10 years, decided to make her grandparents happy and married in 1987. A decision they never regretted. (Sometimes grandparents do know best!)

A deep love for animals was at the center of who he was. Each and every one of his cats, Zinc, Alley, Sam and Peko, were his best friends. But there was always room for special dog friends Daisy and Hamish, too.

Dave was into all kinds of motorsports but his favorite was Formula 1. And for football, it had to be the Green Bay Packers…all the way! Classic rock was his preferred music genre and you could often find him with his headphones on in the wee hours listening to all the best on vinyl.

Everyone who knew Dave knew that he was an extremely kind and considerate person, who loved his family and friends very much. He is survived by his wife Jody. Dave also leaves behind his sister, Diane Hamilton, brother-in-law Greg Hamilton, and nephew Shaun Hamilton of Dalton, his niece Nicole Blogna and her husband Jarod Blogna of Massillon, and his sister-in-law Chris Dana and niece Cassidy Green of Olmsted Falls. He will forever be in their hearts and missed very much every day.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Dolly (Josephine) Stephanic.
