Christine Gwazdauskas Obituary

Christine "Chris" Gwazdauskas, age 55, died on April 18, 2023 at her home in Brecksville after an 8 year battle with cancer. Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, Chris moved to Chicago, then Parma Heights at a young age and remained in Northeast Ohio for the rest of her life. After graduating from Kent State University, Chris became a preschool teacher in Shaker Heights and Cleveland before becoming an elementary school teacher in the Cleveland Metropolitan School district, where she taught children for over 20 years.

Outside of her career, Chris was an avid traveler, traveling to 5 continents throughout her lifetime. Although she had been to many wonderful places, she described Walt Disney World as her happy place and enjoyed frequent vacations to Orlando with her husband Matt Bolek, son Dominic, and other family members to visit the parks. Much of her travel included frequent trips to visit her 9 siblings, who live in many different areas of the United States.

While she loved travelling, Chris was a proud resident of Cleveland and could often be found sampling local restaurants and bakeries. As a music enthusiast who has been a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since its inception, she enjoyed attending live music shows, especially the Hall of Fame induction ceremony each year. Along with her Rock Hall membership, Chris was a Cleveland Guardians season ticket holder and long-time Indians and Guardians fan.

Chris will be most remembered for the fierce love she had for her family and friends, especially her husband, Matt, and son, Dominic. She loved spending time with her family, attending Dominic's numerous sporting events, and cuddling with her dogs, Saint and Penny. At family gatherings, Chris could often be found playing board or card games with her siblings and many nieces and nephews.

Chris is survived by her husband Matt and son Dominic of Brecksville, mother Eva Gwazdauskas, of Poland, Ohio, brother and sister in law Frank and Judy Gwazdauskas, of Blacksburg, Virginia, sister Rita Davis, of Covina, California, brother and sister in law Joe Gwazdauskas and Ruth Ellen Griffin, of West Cornwall, Connecticut, sister and brother in law Mary-Ann and Gil Garcia, of Stockton, California, brother and sister in law John and Jill Gwazdauskas, of Scottsdale, Arizona, sister Terry Robbins, of Shaker Square, Ohio, brother and sister in law Ed and Amy Gwazdauskas, of Sunset Beach, North Carolina, brother Paul Gwazdauskas, of Virginia, sister and brother in law Margaret and Chuck Christopher, of Poland, Ohio, father in law Bob Zednik, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Francis Gwazdauskas and mother in law, Sandy Zednik.
