Carl J. Opatrny

CARL J. OPATRNY, age 84, of Brecksville, passed away Friday, August 5, 2022 at home surrounded by family after a brief illness.  Husband of Mary Jane (nee Broz) for 60 years.  Father of Pamela Johnson (James) and Jennifer Sendrey (George).  Grandfather of Rebecca McKee (Adam), Megan Borling (Kevin), Matthew and Lauren Sendrey, Carly and Colin Johnson.  Great Grandfather of Ciaran and Clementine McKee and Elliott Borling.  Brother of Gail Huth (Douglas).  Uncle of Lowell and Sean Huth and Amy Hazelton.  Son of the late James and Lucille.

Carl dedicated many years of service to the City of Brecksville.  He served on Brecksville City Council for 19 years.  He was known as "Bumbles" the toymaker in the Annual Christmas Play.  He was also active with many local community organizations.  Carl was well respected in the engineering community receiving many local and national awards.

Family and friends will be received at NOSEK-McCREERY FUNERAL HOME, 8150 BRECKSVILLE RD., BRECKSVILLE, OH 44141 on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from 4-8 p.m. where Carl's funeral service will be held Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 10 a.m.  Interment will follow at Brecksville Cemetery.
