Barbara Boyce Craton Moore, age 97, passed away May 30, 2026, after enjoying a long full life.
She was born August 28, 1928 in Erie, Pennsylvania to Willette Fritschner Craton and Forman H. Craton. She was the beloved wife of Thomas Lawrence Moore for 62 years, before his death in 2013. She was the loving mother of Elizabeth Thomas (J.R.), Peter Moore (Dee), Margaret Leverton (Jim), and Charles (deceased); beloved grandmother to Carolyn Fesperman (Lance), Benjamin Thomas (Megan), Katherine Ward (Gregory), Clayton Moore (Caroline), Zachary Moore (Shayna), Owen Moore, Phillip Moore (Laura), and Cole Leverton (Michelle); great-grandmother to Chandler Anderson, Emma Ward, Nora Ward, Jude Ward, Gabriel Thomas, Isaac Thomas, Sloane Moore, and Baby "Moore" due in September. She is survived by her brother, Roger Craton (Joanie) of Santa Barbara, CA.
Barb grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania. She was a graduate of Strong Vincent HS, and attended Southern Seminary in Buena Vista, Virginia. She attended Syracuse University, met Tom in April, 1948, and graduated in 1950. For the majority of their life, Barb and Tom lived in Brecksville, Ohio, where she was an active member of their church, community, and the local Gamma Phi Beta alumni chapter of which she served as President. She also was a Home Economics teacher at Brecksville HS. In 2014 she moved to Laurel Lake Retirement Community in Hudson, where she lived until she passed. Barb will be greatly missed by her family, her friends, and the staff of Laurel Lake who had grown to love her.
Barb's funeral will be held at the First Congregational Church of Hudson, 47 Aurora St., Hudson, OH 44236 on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 11:00 am where the family will receive friends from 10-11 am. Interment will be at 2:00 pm at Brecksville Cemetery.
